Madrone and Palo Seco Pumping Plant Rehabilitation

EBMUD will soon replace Palo Seco Pumping Plant and Madrone Pumping Plant as they have reached the end of their useful lives. Replacement of these facilities and pipelines will ensure delivery of safe and reliable drinking water to your home.

Project work includes:

  • Replacement of Palo Seco Pumping Plant with new mechanical and electrical equipment
  • Demolish and Replace Madrone Pumping Plant with new regulator
  • Installation of 12-inch discharge pipelines from Palo Seco Pumping Plant/Madrone Regulator to Robinson Drive

Workplan and schedule

All construction will be performed by an EBMUD contractor and is scheduled to begin in the Fall of 2023 and will take approximately two years to complete. Typical work hours are Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. 

What to expect

There will be water outages associated with the installation of pipelines. You will be notified by door hanger in advance of the outages.

During construction, expect increased traffic, presence of equipment/machinery to and from the site and construction related noise and dust.
