Backflow prevention
A plumbing system is designed to deliver water from the public supply to a user’s fixture or point of use. Backflow is when water in a plumbing system reverses direction. If the plumbing system is connected to non-potable materials, it may pollute or contaminate the public supply. Backflow preventers allow water to flow in the desired direction only. State code requires that backflow preventers be installed on some private plumbing systems to keep the public water supply clean and safe.
