Schedule
Construction on these maintenance projects is scheduled to occur between 2025 and 2031:
· Chemical System Improvements: 2025 - 2029
· Control System Upgrades: 2025
· Lafayette Center Reliability: 2027 - 2031
Location
Lafayette Water Treatment Plant
3849 Mt. Diablo Blvd, Lafayette, CA
Note: Construction traffic will enter via Mt. Diablo Blvd. Limited delivery hours will be in place throughout the project.
Walter Costa Trail Closure
The Walter Costa Trail passes through the Lafayette Water Treatment Plant property. For the safety of trail users and construction crews, this section of the trail will be closed to the public beginning September 2025 for the duration of planned maintenance and improvement projects at the plant.
The closure will affect a 0.3-mile segment of the trail that overlaps with construction staging areas and heavy equipment access routes. This work is essential to ensure the continued delivery of safe, high-quality drinking water to the Lafayette service area.
During the closure, trail users will be directed to a clearly marked detour route along nearby streets, with signage and maps posted at key access points.
