Amit Mutsuddy
Director of Wastewater
Amit Mutsuddy is the Director of the Wastewater Department. He has been with the East Bay Municipal Utility District since December 2022. Prior to joining the District, Amit worked in various departments at the City of San Jose for 23 years, specializing in wastewater treatment and construction management. Most notably, Amit led the San Jose-Santa Clara Wastewater Treatment Facility (RWF) operation and maintenance and provided key oversight to the $1.4 billion capital improvement projects for the RWF. He serves as an executive board member for multiple wastewater organizations such as the Bay Area Clean Water Agencies, San Francisco Estuary Institute, and the San Francisco Bay Nutrient Management Technical Advisory Committee.
Amit is committed to lifelong learning and the continual pursuit of knowledge and skill building. He is also dedicated to developing programs for on-the-job learning, such as wastewater mechanics, industrial electricians, instrument technicians and other trades related professions. He also conducted numerous training sessions for staff on wastewater treatment, pump design, treatment plant hydraulics, and construction management. Amit also demonstrated his dedication to education and learning by becoming a part-time faculty member in the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at San Jose State University.
