Andrew Lee
Director of Customer and Community Services
Andrew Lee's family immigrated to the United States when he was 13. Born in rural China, with no running water at home, he understands the importance of having access to clean and affordable water. Becoming the Director of Customer and Community Services for EBMUD, an organization that prides itself on providing high-quality drinking water to its diverse service area, has brought Andrew full circle. He grew up with aspirations to become an Architect and earned a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the California College of the Arts. Ultimately, Andrew found his niche in customer service and customer-facing roles at EBMUD, where he feels most at home.
Upon encountering a lack of inclusivity upon his arrival in the United States, Andrew recognized the crucial role he needed to undertake in prioritizing diversity, equity, and inclusion to advance EBMUD's strategic objectives. He strives to build a diverse and inclusive team that reflects the whole community. Andrew emphasizes on a collaborative approach, wherein he effectively engages experts and involves them in the decision-making processes to make good use of their expertise.
