Jimi Yoloye
Director of Engineering and Construction
Olujimi (Jimi) Yoloye was raised in Nigeria and took an early interest in the issue of scarce water resources. He received his education in both the United Kingdom and the United States, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Manchester, followed by Master of Science and an Engineer degree in Civil Engineering from Stanford University. At EBMUD, he has taken on engineering positions with increasing responsibility and is currently serving as the Director of Engineering and Construction. As an executive manager of major construction projects with numerous stakeholders and varying viewpoints, Jimi has found his niche. He motivates his team by instilling the belief that no matter how challenging the situation, there is always a solution. Jimi is especially proud of his team's track record of completing projects successfully and addressing stakeholder concerns despite the accompanying construction challenges and impacts.
Jimi has lived in three countries with diverse populations, which has taught him to avoid categorizing people too narrowly. His inclusive communication style encourages employees to share diverse perspectives and ideas that impact decision-making. When he became the Director, he met with all 280 members of his team individually to learn more about their professional and personal experiences. He also hosts quarterly town hall meetings with uplifting topics and a chance for everyone to unwind from work’s seriousness. "Once I played music and danced; now we do it at every town hall."
