EBMUD is planning to build a pump station off of Dougherty Road in San Ramon. The station is needed to deliver recycled water to neighboring communities, as well as to parks, greenbelts and golf courses in San Ramon, Danville and Blackhawk.
The pump station and surrounding landscaping will be designed to blend into the neighborhood and natural surroundings.
Workplan and schedule
Following a property agreement between EBMUD and City of San Ramon, EBMUD will begin designing the pump station. The construction of the pump station will take less than a year to complete. Traffic impacts will be minimal, with around one month of road work.
Estimated schedule for project completion:
- Design: July 2017 – June 2018
- Construction: July 2018 – June 2019

Nearby recycled water projects
One of the proposed pump station locations is on Dougherty Road between Bollinger Canyon Road and Crow Canyon Road, 150 feet away from the closest home. A busy stretch of Dougherty Road and steep slopes separate the pump station from nearby residential communities.
Residents near this location have also recently received notification of an unrelated recycled water project. Recycled water hydrants have been installed along Dougherty Road and will be accessed regularly by water trucks serving the Faria Preserve construction project.
EBMUD will coordinate closely with CalAtlantic Homes to avoid conflict between these two projects and keep traffic moving smoothly. If you have any questions about the hydrants and water trucks, please contact CalAtlantic Homes or City of San Ramon using the information provided below:
