EBMUD's residential rebates can help you save both water and money. These are our current rebates:

EBMUD's High Efficiency Toilet and the High Efficiency Residential Clothes Washer Rebate programs have ended as of December 31, 2016.

Outdoors

Lawn Conversion & Irrigation Upgrade Rebates

Get up to $2,500 for converting lawns and upgrading irrigation equipment at single-family homes and multi-family residences of 4 units of less.

The Magic of Mulch 

Save water, beautify your garden, and enhance soil health with mulch.

Graywater Rebate

Get a rebate of up to $50 for purchase of a graywater system 3-way diverter valve.

Free Water-Saving Devices

High-efficiency showerheads, faucet aerators, and other water-saving devices are available free of charge to eligible EBMUD customers, limits apply.  

High-Efficiency Toilet Rebates

The high efficiency toilet rebate program ended on December 31, 2016. Applications for high efficiency toilets purchased and installed on or before December 31, 2016 must be mailed and postmarked by March 31, 2017.  Purchases after December 31, 2016, or applications received after March 31, 2017, will not be eligible for a rebate. Multi-family (apartments) customers can still obtain a rebate for a High Efficiency Toilet(s) under the Customized rebate program. Read the Custom Rebate Program web page for details. 

High-Efficiency Clothes Washer Rebates

The residential clothes washer program ended on December 31, 2016. Applications for qualifying residential clothes washers purchased and installed on or before December 31, 2016 must be mailed and postmarked by March 1, 2017.  Purchases after December 31, 2016, or applications received after March 1, 2017, will not be eligible for a rebate. 

 

Tax notice 

All rebates that, individually or in combination, total $600 or more in a tax year require submittal of a W-9 form to the District prior to payment. All personal information provided within the W-9 are kept confidential in accordance with the Privacy Act. If your total rebate amount is $600 or more, you will receive a 1099 form to comply with Internal Revenue Service requirements. The determination of whether your rebate is taxable or not may depend on several variables. You are recommended to contact your tax professional.
