Information on Hiring a Contractor

In order to obtain a Compliance Certificate, you may need to hire a contractor to:

  1. Check the PSL for any cracks, leaks, or issues.
  2. If the PSL is damaged, the contractor will need to repair or replace the lateral.
  3. The contractor will then set up a PSL pressure verification test for EBMUD to inspect.

Who to hire

Contractors should be licensed, registered and insured through the California State Licensing Board. Be sure to check your contractor's references. Make sure all project expectations are in writing and only sign a contract if you completely understand the terms. You may want to ask if the contract includes the cost of obtaining city permits and the cost of EBMUD’s Compliance Certificate and appointment re-scheduling fees.

Permits and construction in your city

Each city in the wastewater service area has unique requirements for PSL work. Check your local city agency's website for more information:

EBMUD is a public agency and cannot recommend or endorse any contractors, nor do we have any agreements with contractors to perform work. However, as a courtesy, below is a list of contractors who perform PSL work, which you can review at the link below:
