As our snowpack melts, EBMUD is managing its reservoirs and releasing water to provide flood control.
EBMUD’s water supply begins at the Mokelumne River watershed in the Sierra Nevada and extends 90 miles to the East Bay. The Urban Water Management Plan helps EBMUD ensure a reliable water supply for the next generation, which includes making the best use of limited supplies through water conservation and recycling and developing long-term projects.

Long Term Planning for Water Reliability
Urban Water Management Plan
EBMUD's Urban Water Management Plan is a long-range planning document updated every 5 years to support long-term resource planning and water supply sustainability. The plan provides an assessment of supply and demand, an overview of the conservation program, recycled water program, groundwater plan, and, importantly, includes the Water Shortage Contingency Plan.
