By voting EBMUD into being 100 years ago, East Bay residents made a commitment to invest in the infrastructure needed to supply both themselves and the generations to come with clean, reliable water.

At EBMUD, we love the work we do, the land and water we protect, and the people we serve. As we turn 100, we’re as proud as ever to be a cornerstone of this vibrant, diverse and innovative community.

EBMUD was born out of thirst, created 100 years ago to secure a reliable, high-quality water supply for the burgeoning East Bay.

This year, EBMUD celebrates 100 years of service to the people of the East Bay. For a century, we have provided clean, reliable water at the turn of the faucet, managed natural resources, and protected the environment.

As we celebrate EBMUD’s centennial, investments toward our next century of service are already underway.

Most of EBMUD’s drinking water makes an incredible journey to arrive at our taps. As drought and climate change generate renewed interest in where our water comes from, some people are taking extraordinary steps to seek the source.
