Alcohol use

Alcohol is prohibited from May through September to reduce drownings, driving/boating under the influence, physical altercations and noise curfew violations.

Frequently Asked Question

Alcohol is now prohibited from May through September to reduce incidents such as driving under the influence in campgrounds, boating under the influence on the reservoir, drownings, physical altercations, and noise curfew violations that are often caused or exacerbated by alcohol consumption.

Alcohol is not allowed between May and September each year.

Rangers and law enforcement officers will conduct regular patrols to ensure compliance. Visitors who possess or consume alcohol will face penalties, including loss of access and possible citations.

This alcohol prohibition applies to all visitors — day-use and overnight — in all areas of Camanche North and South Shore recreation areas, and Camanche Reservoir.

The prohibition does not apply within the boundaries of the Camanche Mobile Home Parks; however, residents cannot possess or consume alcohol in the recreation area during the prohibition period.

No special permits will be issued to serve alcohol at events during the prohibition period.

Events outside the prohibition period may serve alcohol with appropriate permits obtained through the Camanche concessionaire. Contact Camping@golakecamanche.com for questions or concerns regarding your reservation.

Existing reservations during the prohibition period remain valid, but visitors must comply with the new regulations.
