You count on clean water daily – to quench your thirst, to brew your morning coffee, to take a shower, to water your plants. But do you know where your water comes from? Do you know how EBMUD ensures every drop is safe to drink? Are you familiar with how EBMUD supports healthy watersheds and protects San Francisco Bay?
If you want to learn more about this most precious natural resource, how EBMUD safeguards water quality and how we manage critical infrastructure serving 1.4 million people across the East Bay, we are here to help.
This past year, we’ve supercharged our efforts to educate students, teachers, local leaders and customers about key water issues — both in the East Bay and in our broader watershed.
EBMUD hosts school field trips to our reservoirs, treatment plants and the Mokelumne River Fish Hatchery in the Sierra Nevada foothills to provide students with hands-on learning experiences. We train teachers at our facilities to help them enhance their science curricula. EBMUD staff also teach a popular engineering course
at UC Berkeley.
EBMUD’s Water Wednesday webinars feature in-house professionals and outside experts who cover topics ranging from conservation to emergency preparedness. Staff-led Water Walks showcase essential infrastructure and highlight the importance of responsible watershed stewardship. And our annual Community Water Academy offers regional leaders a deep dive into all things EBMUD.
Feedback on EBMUD’s educational programs and community engagement has been overwhelmingly positive, and we believe these efforts contribute to the East Bay’s remarkably high level of trust in EBMUD.
We work hard to serve you and appreciate your confidence as we champion our shared water resources, today and for future generations.
