Lafayette Recreation Area
Lafayette Recreation Area is an all-year day-use area ideal for hiking, jogging, fishing, boating and picnicking, located off Highway 24 only one mile from the Lafayette BART station. Lafayette Recreation Area is open every day. Bicyclists and people on roller skates, roller blades and scooters are allowed on Tuesdays and Thursdays from noon until closing and on Sundays from opening until 11:00 a.m. on the paved Lakeside Trail (2.7 miles) and roads.
Reminder for dog owners: as of July 1, 2009 animal leashes may NOT be longer than 6 feet in length.
Recreation area services include:
- Fishing (daily fishing access permit required)
- Bait shop
- Rental boats
- Private boats - (no gasoline engines, no trailers)
- Picnic areas (including 2 group sites available for reservation)
- Children's playground (located on the East lawn)
- Annual passes available
