EBMUD’s East Bayshore Recycled Water Project began providing recycled water to customers in 2008. It currently supplies more than 30 customer sites.

The project produces high-quality recycled water at the district’s wastewater treatment plant, located at the foot of the Bay Bridge. EBMUD distributes this water through a system that currently offsets drinking water use for irrigation, toilet flushing and building cooling in parts of Oakland and Emeryville. Future phases of the project will also reach customers in Berkeley, Albany and Alameda.

EBMUD has also partnered with the City of Albany to install recycled water pipeline along roads and bike paths, which will expedite the future expansion of recycled water.
