EBMUD and Oakland Roots challenge fans to "Imagine a Day Without Water"

As part of a national “Value of Water” campaign, EBMUD and the Oakland Roots Sports Club encourage everyone to celebrate access to safe, reliable water supplies.

OAKLAND – The arrival of the Bay Area’s first big rain of the season reminds us of the value of water. Our community counts on clean water daily – to quench our thirst, to brew our morning coffee, to take a shower, to water our plants, and to support our economy and environment.

Much goes into ensuring a reliable water supply, from protecting watersheds and healthy rivers to managing our complex infrastructure to make sure every drop that is sent to customer taps is safe to drink.

The East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD) and its 1.4 million customers are fortunate to have clean water available every time we turn on the tap. But millions of people around the world lack access to clean, reliable water.

That’s why EBMUD is encouraging everyone to “Imagine a Day Without Water” as part of a national campaign that calls attention to water's essential role in our daily lives and the importance of investing in water infrastructure.

To help illustrate this point, EBMUD teamed up with Oakland Roots Sports Club to show how different life would be without water — and why clean, reliable water is worth protecting. We imagine dry, patchy playing fields and empty water bottles that leave players and fans thirsty. A day without water is a day without the experiences that bring us together.

Community support for investments in infrastructure and environmental protection means EBMUD can deliver high-quality water to power every play, every fan and every game.

EBMUD and the Roots invite fans to celebrate water and take simple actions to protect it:
