Building Lake Chabot: Stories Beneath the Surface

Join us for a walk to Chabot Dam to learn about the important contributions of Chinese laborers to early water infrastructure systems.
Join EBMUD Staff on May 9, 2026 from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. The walk will cover the history of the reservoir as one of the earliest reservoirs planned by Anthony Chabot and built by hundreds of Chinese laborers. Chabot Reservoir is vital as a standby emergency drinking water supply, a recreation space, and cultural landmark.

- The walk will begin at 9 a.m. sharp and we aim to return by 11 a.m.
- Save room for others. Please let us know if you will not be able to attend.
- The walk will be 1.5 miles long and will begin at Chabot Park (Estudillo Ave. entrance)
- Bring water.
Requirements
- Attendees must be able to walk uphill.
- How to Dress
- Wear comfortable closed-toe shoes
- Dress in layers
