Project Overview

EBMUD will be rehabilitating roof terraces at its Administration Building at 375 11th Street from March through October 2026. Work will take place on the building’s upper floors.

The existing roofing system, originally installed in the 1990s, is nearing the end of its useful life. This project will replace the roof terraces and restore systems needed for safe building maintenance.

Schedule and Work Hours

The project will be completed in phases:

  • Webster Street side: March – June
  • Franklin Street side: July – October

Typical work hours are weekdays, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM. Limited weekend work may occur.

What to Expect

Project Activities:

Roof work, material deliveries and removal, construction staging, and intermittent crane operations.

Construction Impacts:

Noise, dust, increased truck activity, and temporary road, sidewalk, lane, and parking closures in the immediate area. EBMUD appreciates the community’s patience during construction.

Crane Operations:

During construction, there will be eight crane days between April and September to lift materials to the roof. These operations may require temporary lane closures and truck staging on 11th Street (4 days), Webster Street (2 days), and Franklin Street (2 days). Crane work will occur on one- to two-day, non-consecutive mobilizations per block per month.

Pedestrian and traffic safety is a top priority. Trained flaggers will be on site during crane operations to direct traffic. At least one lane of traffic will remain open for through traffic. Limited sidewalks and parking may be closed near crane work areas during work hours.

Please note that during lane closures on 11th, Franklin, and Webster Streets, bus stops will not be removed, access to garage entrances and loading docks will remain open or be maintained whenever possible during crane operations. However, traffic delays may occur.

All construction dates and road closures are subject to change. Advance notices and signage will be provided.

EBMUD appreciates the community’s patience during this work.
