Parking Lot Bioswales

Oct 16, 2025, 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM

Kat Sawyer, Greening Urban Watersheds Senior Manager, and Ethan Rayner, Restoration and Volunteer Manager at The Watershed Project, will share their experience planning, implementing, and maintaining diverse native plant bioswales in a large parking lot setting, designed with minimal irrigation requirements. Since establishment in 2018, the bioswales at the Booker T. Anderson Recreation Center have served as a demonstration site for water quality monitoring, protecting daylighted creeks, promoting biodiversity, and conserving water.

This workshop will focus on municipal-scale stormwater interventions and strategies for building effective partnerships with city agencies and nonprofit organizations. The session will include both an indoor presentation and an outdoor discussion. Come share your experience with installing and maintaining bioswales. The event will take place rain or shine.

Space is limited. Registration is required.
