Water use in the landscape -- and implementing water saving irrigation measures -- varies with each business and irrigation customer.
EBMUD works closely with large landscape irrigators to help them reduce water use in ways that work for them. EBMUD thanks each one for their dedication to water conservation. EBMUD offers rebates, technology and training to all customers to help them save water and lower their water bills.
Rossmoor, Walnut Creek
Rossmoor is a gated nationally recognized and award-winning active senior adult community located in the picturesque 1,800-acre Tice Valley area of Walnut Creek, California. Rossmoor offers great views, lush open space and pristine neighborhoods.
For several decades, previous staff at Rossmoor worked directly with EBMUD Water Conservation staff. Numerous landscape irrigation audits were conducted, and hundreds of rebates were processed for upgrading antiquated irrigation systems and removing high water use lawns.
Starting in 2016, Rebecca Pollon started her position as the new Landscape Manager for the Community of Rossmoor. As manager, Rebecca oversees a staff of approximately 80 Rossmoor grounds crew. Senior Landscape Manager Curtis Kaul of Brightview and Landscape Supervisor Steve Ormond of Rossmoor played major roles in reducing water for several HOA’s common area landscaping throughout Rossmoor. The common area landscaping consists of 1,100 acres throughout the community, and an additional 700 acres of open space that is accessible by more than 6 miles of trails.
This is a great example of how to reduce costs and maintenance without sacrificing the beauty of a well-kept landscape.
