EBMUD Sale of Renewable Electricity Request for Expressions of Interest

EBMUD is issuing a Request for Expressions of Interest (RFEOI) from those who might want to purchase surplus renewable electricity.

The East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD) generates renewable electricity from biogas at its Main Wastewater Treatment Plant in Oakland, California to serve on-site needs. However, generation often exceeds on-site demand, resulting in surplus power available for sale. EBMUD is exploring options for the sale of this surplus power and the renewable energy credits (RECs) associated with it on an as-available basis. Typical annual surplus power is around 14,000 MWh per year and typical availability by time of day over the last 3 years is shown in Attachment 1.
