Night work at Estudillo Avenue and Macarthur Boulevard for up to 2 weeks
Night work begins August 3 for up to 2 weeks. During this time, the contractor will install approximately 80 feet of underground pipeline in the intersection of Estudillo Avenue and Macarthur Boulevard. Night work will minimize traffic and impacts to the businesses in the area. Night work hours are Monday to Friday, 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Chabot Park Bridge closed to vehicles mid-August for 2-3 weeks
In mid-August, the contractor will begin installation of a new large diameter pipeline on Estudillo Avenue, between Daniels Drive and the Chabot Park entrance bridge at the end of Estudillo Avenue. During construction, there will be no vehicle access to the bridge and into the park. Pedestrian traffic will be maintained throughout the project. The next vehicular bridge closure will occur in winter 2020/2021.
There will be no water outages associated with this work. During construction, expect increased traffic to and from the area, detours and/or partial lane closures and construction related noise and dust.
Typical work hours in the street are Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m and typical work hours at the pumping plants site are Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Schedule is subject to change.
EBMUD will soon replace Bayfair Pumping Plant and will remove Peralta and South Pumping Plants as they have reached the end of their useful lives. All facilities are located at the end of Estudillo Avenue in Chabot Park in San Leandro (see map to the right). Replacement of these facilities and pipelines will ensure delivery of safe and reliable drinking water to your home. Project work includes:
Construction of the 8-inch pipeline is complete. All other construction will be performed by an EBMUD contractor and is scheduled to begin in the fall of 2019 and will take approximately two years to complete. Typical work hours are Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
There will be water outages associated with the installation of the 8-inch pipeline. You will be notified by door hanger in advance of the outages. During construction, expect increased traffic to and from the site and construction related noise and dust.
All Chabot Park parking will be temporarily closed on two occasions for one month each in the winter of 2019 and winter of 2020 as crews work on the large transmission pipeline at the park entrance.
Disc golf hole #1 within Chabot Park will be closed from December 2020 through March 2021 while we work on replacing the transmission line, that runs beneath it.
The park will remain open to foot traffic throughout the project.
