Schapiro Reservoir Replacement Project

EBMUD will be replacing the existing Schapiro Water Reservoir with a smaller reservoir inside the existing basin. The existing reservoir is a 4-million gallon in-ground reservoir, built in 1955, that needs to be replaced due to age and structural issues.

The project site is located between Bonita Road and Capitol Hill Avenue in unincorporated Richmond, backing up to the Wildcat Canyon open space. The proposed haul route extends from Hillcrest Road to Bonita Road. Construction is planned to begin in the spring of 2009.

A Mitigated Negative Declaration (MND) has been prepared to evaluate environmental impacts associated with the project. The EBMUD Board of Directors certified the project at the November 27, 2007 Board meeting. Design of the project began in early 2008.

The MND is available below as a PDF file that can be viewed and printed through Adobe Acrobat Reader, a free software
