How can I get my online permit?
In order to buy a permit online, you must have a major credit card and fill out all required fields.  Once you complete the process online, your permanent permit will appear on your screen for you to print.  If this does not happen, or you are having other problems, please call (209)772-8204 or email lstuart@ebmud.com.

When can I expect to receive my permit?  
The trail permit takes approximately two to three weeks to process. You can use a copy of your trail permit application as a temporary permit for 30 days (in the East Bay), or 60 days (in the Mokelumne Area of the Sierra Foothills).  Your trail permit is valid in both the East Bay and Mokelumne area. 
Daily permits for East Bay trails must be purchased in person at either Watershed Headquarters in Orinda (Monday-Friday), or at Lafayette Reservoir Recreation Area (open 7 days a week).  Daily permits for the Sierra/Mokelumne area trails must be purchased in person at the Mokelumne Watershed office (Monday-Friday), or at one of the three recreation areas, Camanche South Shore, Camanche North Shore, or Pardee (open 7 days a week).

How much does the permit cost?  
Trail permits can be purchased for $2.50 for one day, $10 for one year, $20 for three years, and $30 for five years.

Can I take family members or friends with me on the trails?  
Yes, you may take members of your immediate family, plus three additional guests on all EBMUD trails in both the East Bay and Mokelumne areas.

Can I take my dog on the trails?  
Dogs are allowed on two trails in the East Bay:  Oursan Trail (between Briones Overlook Staging Area and Bear Creek Staging Area) and starting at Valle Vista Staging Area, the Kings Canyon (Wagnon) Loop Trail, through to Laguna Park (including the Riche Trail Loop). DOGS MUST BE LEASHED AT ALL TIMES ON BOTH TRAILS.

Where can I ride my bicycle?
Bicycles can be ridden at Lafayette Reservoir Recreation Area on Tuesdays and Thursdays from noon until closing and on Sundays from opening until 11:00 a.m. on the paved Lakeside Trail (2.7 miles) only.  Bicycles are not allowed in any other EBMUD watershed lands.
