Live Theater Assembly Tours EBMUD offers free live theater tours to elementary schools served by Project WATER. The plays are performed by two professional actors who play all the characters and travel with portable sets, props and costumes. The plays are interactive and performed in two versions, one for grades kindergarten through three, and one for grades four through six. Related classroom materials are provided with the tour. Teachers overwhelmingly rate the tours as above average to excellent in educational value and say students retain the educational message. Curriculum experts agree that student involvement demanded by live theater results in greater attentiveness and higher degrees of conceptual retention. Each EBMUD-sponsored play reaches more than 85,000 youngsters. Each play presents scientific concepts regarding water use, water conservation and environmental protection.
