Start or Stop Service
Starting Water Service
You may start water service by:
Calling Customer Service at 1-866-403-2683 during normal business hours (Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.). If you use this method, an account establishment fee of $32.00 will appear on your first water bill.
or
Requesting service online 24 hours a day, seven days a week. If you open your account online, a reduced account establishment fee of $16.00 will appear on your first water bill.
The account establishment fee covers the administrative costs associated with starting water service. It is not a deposit and is non-refundable.
You will need to provide the following information in order to open a new account:
- Applicant's and/or property owner's name and mailing address
- Address of property to be served
- Applicant's ID (driver's license, government-issued identification or Social Security number)
- Employer's address and telephone number
- Reference name and telephone number
- Landlord's name and telephone number (if applicable)
- Previous residence address
- Spouse's name and ID number (if married)
- Spouse's employer/source of income and years employed (if married)
- Other EBMUD accounts (if applicable)
- Close of escrow date (if applicable)
Stopping Water Service
You can stop your water service by:
Calling Customer Service during business hours (Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.).
Online 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
You will need to provide the following information in order to stop service:
- Your name and your relationship to the account holder
- Your current home and work telephone numbers
- The date you vacated the premises
- The mailing address to which the final bill should be sent
