Water Pressure and Hydrant Flow Information

EBMUD is committed to provide reliable, adequate pressure and water flow for all customers.  Water pressure typically ranges from about 30 to 130 pounds per square inch depending upon the elevation of a customer's service connection within a particular pressure zone.  The District has over 130 pressure zones, most of which include one or more treated water storage tanks.  Water flow is primarily determined by the size of a customer's service connection and the water pressure at that connection.

Requesting Pressure and Flow Information for New Installation of  Fire Sprinkler System

You must request water pressure and flow information for new installation of a fire sprinkler system through our Planning Office if you meet these criteria:

  • You are designing/redesigning a fire sprinkler system; or you are upsizing an existing fire service meter and,

  • The fire service is for a commercial building or,

  • The fire service is for a multi-family structure of five or more units or with a connection size greater than 2 inches.

The Planning Office will conduct a hydraulic model analysis to determine adequate pressure and flow data to support your fire service. This information can be requested using the online form. You will be charged $265 for each hydraulic model analysis request. If you need flow and pressure data for a fire service but do not meet the above criteria, you may request existing hydrant flow data at no charge in the next section. NOTE: This is not a fire service application. You must also complete the Water Service Application Packet to apply for the fire service after you obtain the flow and pressure data.

The information below is a PDF file that can be viewed and printed through Adobe Acrobat Reader, a free software.
