Customer Survey

In a continuing effort to improve the services we provide to our customers, EBMUD commissioned EMC Research (EMC) to conduct a quantitative telephone survey among its residential customers. This project was funded by a Proposition 50 grant from the California Department of Water Resources to further research on water use efficiency in the wake of a three-year water shortage period. The survey covered the following topics:

• Levels of concern regarding water issues in the Bay Area
• Job ratings for Bay Area utilities
• Ratings of how well EBMUD carries out its job responsibilities
• Water usage and conservation
• Identification of water conservation awareness
• Use of drought rates and charges
• Participation in water conservation
• Ability to store and deliver a reliable supply of water
• Willingness and actions taken to reduce water use
