Discovering a Sense of Place

This 2015 series of talks and field trips will cultivate a true appreciation of the importance of protecting the land, watersheds, and wildlife that reside in our “backyard home.” Sponsored by The Gardens at Heather Farm and City of Walnut Creek’s Clean Water Program. The series includes a talk by EBMUD Water Conservation Rep Scott Sommerfeld.

This year’s topics include Integrated Pest Management, Water Conservation, Pollution Prevention, the Secrets of Composting, and Watersheds and Creeks.

Ruth Bancroft Garden Lecture Series

This exciting set of author events, seminars, and workshops highlight topics including growing vegetables, herbs, and cutting flowers; choosing colors for your garden that work together; and creating stunning succulent gardens and great plant combinations using water-wise plants. Lose Your Lawn, Gain a Garden

Host a sheet mulching party in your own neighborhood. Stopwaste.org makes it easy through their Lose Your Lawn, Gain a Garden program. Included: a sheet mulch kit, free consult, and a sign for your yard that reads: "We Turned Our Yard into a Garden with Sheet Mulch."

Plants & Water - Sustainability and Landscape Design

Bay-Friendly Landscaping and Gardening Coalition presents two Bay Area events with Robert C. Perry, celebrated author of Landscape Plants for California Gardens. He will highlight successful plant combinations that are both water-efficient and beautiful. EBMUD is a co-sponsor of these talks.

12th Annual Water Conservation Showcase

Local and national experts come together to address water conservation topics including policies, rebates, business case studies, treatment innovations, storm-water management, low impact development, water supply history and future, and water reuse solutions. EBMUD partners with PG&E and the U.S. Green Business Council to bring you this annual event.

Bringing Back the Natives Garden Tour

This one-of-a-kind, inspiring tour of East Bay native plant gardens is an annual favorite not to be missed. Stops on the Tour range from well-established gardens to brand new installations, from large lots in the hills to small front-yard gardens. EBMUD is a sponsor.
