This exciting set of author events, seminars, and workshops highlights topics including growing vegetables, herbs, and cutting flowers; choosing colors for your garden that work together; and creating stunning succulent gardens and great plant combinations using water-wise plants. Host a sheet mulch party in your own neighboorhood

Stopwaste.org makes it easy through their Lose Your Lawn, Gain a Garden program. Included: a sheet mulch kit, free consult, and a sign for your yard that reads: "We Turned Our Yard into a Garden with Sheet Mulch."

Laundry to Landscape Graywater - Installing a Simple and Affordable System

This is a step-by-step, hands-on workshop. "Laundry to landscape" systems are simple, affordable, and easy to maintain. Irrigate your landscape each time you do laundry and save water, time, and resources. You'll learn:

  • How to tailor a system for your home and landscape
  • How to build a system - you'll create a "mock-up" of a real system using real graywater parts
  • What parts you'll need for your home
  • How much graywater you produce and how many plants you can water
  • What soaps and detergents are "graywater friendly"

Lose Your Lawn Demonstration Event - Bay Friendly Coalition

Learn how to convert your existing lawn to a beautiful, yet low water landscape. This is an open house event. There will be stations demonstrating sheet mulching, irrigation conversion and planting lectures.

Mow No Mo' - Lawn Conversion Workshops

In this series of hands-on workshops you’ll learn how to remove your lawn, select native plants, and design a beautiful, water-conserving, pesticide-free garden that attracts wildlife.

The following is an EBMUD-sponsored workshop led by Kelly Marshall of Kelly Marshall Garden Design, and Kathy Kramer, Bringing Back the Natives Garden Tour Coordinator. On location at the home of an EBMUD customer participating in the lawn conversion rebate program.

Contract Equity Program Business Forums are an opportunity for business owners to learn how to do business with East Bay Municipal Utility District, meet EBMUD staff, and network with other business owners.

Art Exhibition

EBMUD hosts a rotating art exhibition in its Administration Building lobby in downtown Oakland. The shows are free and open to the public. Click for visiting hours, the current artist, and a sample of the work on display.
