Automated Meter Reading Pilot Project

EBMUD is conducting a 10-year pilot study using automated meter reading (AMR) technology to encourage water conservation. The pilot AMR system will serve approximately 4,000 of EBMUD's potable water customers in the vicinity of Blackhawk (Danville). The AMR system will provide customers access to their hourly water consumption data through a website and will alert customers to possible leaks in their home plumbing. Following completion of the pilot, EBMUD will determine the effectiveness of expanding this program throughout the service area.

The Notice of Exemption (NOE) for this project was posted with Contra Costa County on January 7, 2009 and is available for review.
