Equal Employment Opportunity

EBMUD is fully committed to the concept and practice of equal opportunity and affirmative action in all aspects of employment. This commitment is reflected in the EBMUD mission statement. The Affirmative Action Plan (AAP) conforms with Executive Order 11246 and the implementing regulations of the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs.

EBMUD cultivates a work environment where all employees and potential employees receive equal employment opportunities (EEO), a workforce that reflects the diversity of the East Bay, and respect for cultural and gender differences.  EBMUD actively works to ensure diverse candidate pools for jobs, communicates AA/EEO expectations to all employees, and investigates and resolves EEO discrimination complaints.  See our Equal Employment Opportunity Policy for more information.

Federal (Title VII, the ADEA and ADA) and state (the FEHA and the Labor Code) laws prohibit employment decisions which discriminate based upon an individual’s race, gender, religion, color, national origin, age, sexual orientation, medical condition, marital status or disability. As a federal contractor, EBMUD is required to maintain an affirmative action plan describing its plan to remedy underutilization and to maintain equal employment opportunity in the workplace.

The AA Plan reaffirms our commitment to AA/EEO, defines our mission and legal authority, and clarifies the roles and responsibilities of each employee in supporting AA/EEO policies.  The AA Plan also analyzes progress in achieving our goal of employing a workforce that reflects the population we serve.

EBMUD is proud to continue its commitment to affirmative action in a merit based system where good faith efforts are made to hire highly qualified men and women of diverse backgrounds to work together.
