WaterSmart High-Efficiency Toilet Rebate Program

EBMUD customers can receive rebates for purchasing WaterSmart high-efficiency toilets (HET).  The rebate amount is $150 or up to the total toilet cost (not including sales tax), whichever is less for a qualifying HET.

Limit:  Three rebates per living unit, not per account.
Limit:  Ten rebates per commercial account.

This program is jointly implemented with the Marin Municipal Water District.

HETs are approved for this program because they are designed to use an average of 20 percent less water than standard 1.6 gallon per flush (gpf) toilets.  The qualifying toilets have been tested for water savings reliability and flush performance, thus using less water and removing waste effectively. No standard 1.6 gpf toilets qualify for a rebate.

Only toilet models on the List of Qualifying Toilets will be rebated. You must replace a toilet flushing 3.5 gallons per flush or higher to receive a rebate.  See How to Check Your Existing Toilet's Flush Volume section in the program's brochure to determine if your existing toilet qualifies for a rebate.

This program applies to purchases made between July 1, 2008 and December 31, 2008.  Toilets must be installed and rebate applications must be postmarked within 90 days of purchase date.
