WaterSmart Clothes Washer Rebates - $125 or $200 Beginning January 1, 2008 EBMUD customers can get a combined EBMUD and Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) rebate of $125 for efficient models or $200 for the most efficient models when they purchase and install qualifying clothes washers. This new partnership will help streamline program rules and the application process, providing customers with one combined rebate check from both companies.
High-efficiency clothes washers use less water, energy, and detergent, and clean clothes better than conventional models. Although some high-efficiency models may cost more than standard models, the savings on utility bills combined with the rebate make them a better buy in the long run. Water- and energy-efficient clothes washers also reduce the amount of wastewater generated. How to Qualify for a Rebate To qualify for a combined water and energy rebate, you must purchase a clothes washer from the Consortium for Energy Efficiency's (CEE) tier 2 or tier 3 (not including washers that use silver ion technology) between January 1, 2008 and December 31, 2008 and install it within the EBMUD service area. Application must be submitted within 90 days of purchase date. For program rules, to apply
