At the next Landscape Advisory Committee General Meeting, Bart O’Brien, (Botanic Garden Manager, East Bay Regional Parks District) will display a variety of native plants best suited for small and large scale landscape projects. This slide presentation will highlight eye-catching plants and plant communities that provide habitat value, reduce water use, require low and informed maintenance, and year round seasonal interest. Bart will pick up from where he left off last fall.

Bart is Coauthor of: Reimagining the California Lawn, California Native Plants for the Garden, Care and Maintenance of Southern California Native Plant Gardens, Plant Diversity and Endemism in the California Floristic Province, etc. Bart offers many resources to deepen your knowledge.

Prior to joining the EBRPD, Bart was the Director of Horticulture at the Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden, and participated in planning, restoration, and landscape projects for the Los Angeles and San Gabriel rivers and watersheds in Southern California. He has held many leadership roles in the California Native Plant Society. Bart’s contributions have been recognized with numerous awards including President’s Award from CNPS in 2006 and 2010. O’Brien holds an undergraduate degree in environmental planning and management from UC Davis, and a master’s degree in landscape architecture from Harvard University.

The meeting will be held at EBMUD Administration Building at 375 11th Street, Oakland on the second floor. The Administration Building is conveniently located near the Broadway and 12th Street Bart station.

Public transportation is encouraged. Free validated parking is available at the Pacific Renaissance Plaza garage right next door on Webster Street. Bring your token to the meeting and EBMUD will validate at the end of the meeting. Please note, there is no parking available in the EBMUD parking garage. Lite refreshments served.
